Ellicit future plans - when we want to tell our plans, explain why we will not be at home and share good things. Introduce the topic of the lesson - Letter about Future Plans
Ellicit from the class 3 things that we can do on a holiday. Elicit using a construction v + noun(e.g. swim in the sea). Bridge to the exercise - tell the students " match activities with the pictures" "Write the number of the picture near the activity" Feedback - together with the whole class Problems: students don't understand the words and search in the dictionary or ask the teacher. Write the word on the board and tell the student to finish the rest, we will translate/find out it after the task.
Tell students that we are going to read a letter about holiday plans. There are activities from the first exercise in this letter. "If the activity is in the text, put an X near it." "You have 3 minutes. Do you have time to use a dictionary? What do you do if you don't understand the word?. After the time is up, ask for the answers from several students.
Ask the students to look at the text again. Is this letter about the Past or the Future? Is there only Future Simple in the text? Which other tenses are used? Get the tenses with examples from the students and write them on the board. Ellicit the rules for using these tenses. Show the next page with rules, ask students to read the rules. Inquire if some of the rules are unclear and if yes, then get other students to explain the rules or ellicit the rule with examples. Transfer to the exercise to check that the students understand the rules. Ask them to put the verbs in correct form. Give 5 minutes for the task. After the task, let students check their answers in pairs, then with the teacher.
Tell the students to write their own letter to a friend. Ellicit what the first paragraph will be about. Ellicit if they are going to talk about the Past or the Future.
