After Ss finish PW, ask some of them their ideas about the pictures. Change the pairs and groups by using colours. Tell them to take the photocopies of the text (which is given in the previous lesson Teacher - Liliana) and tell them to look through the text again and ask them to find the sentences related to the present modals. Then they will check the sentences with their partners. Check with WC.

Clarification (8-10 minutes) • To clarify the meaning, form and pronunciation of the target language

After they check Answer Key, try too get the meaning of the form from the SS. T: "It can't be him. He's too old" Is the person 100% sure? Ss: No T: Is is a possibility? Ss: Yes. T: Because ..... Ss: The person is not sure enough. Write the marker sentences on the WB. We must be wrong. This may not be the whole truth. And clarify the language. Meaning: CCQ We know that we must be wrong. Do I know the reason in this sentence? - Yes Am I sure %100? - No(almost) Is there a strong deduction? - Yes Form: We must be wrong. S + modal verb + infinitive • • Pronunciation: We must be wrong. /mʌs/ /rɒŋ/ Drill the sentences. Listening for Pronunciation. Track 2.16. Drill the sentence to see the word stress. Track 2. 17. (More or Less sure - practice)

Controlled Practice (8-10 minutes) • To concept check and prepare students for more meaningful practice

Show the picture of magician on the book and tell the students to write as many sentences as they can about it using the modals. Give them 5 minutes to write in the groups. When they finish, change the partners and discuss the ideas. Then WC check, read the sentences, explain why they have chosen that modal.

Free Practice (5-8 minutes) • To provide students with free practice of the target language

Hand out the situations written for modals of speculation. They will read the situation and they will try to find proper modal to make the sentences related to the context.
