Main Aims

To provide input through reading so that Ss can build their confidence and skills in dealing with text, and build their receptive and productive vocabulary of adjectives describing hotels, people, weather.
Subsidiary Aims

To provide input for asking and answering questions that may involve repetition and spelling.
Procedure (31-39 minutes)
Ss will watch a 2 min. video about a Spanish waiter in a hotel practicing his English.
Ss will do a vocab matching to prepare for the text. Ss will compare answers in group by reading the word and definition out loud. Ss will compare with another student. Ss will check answer key on wall. Next, Ss will discuss 3 general Qs on the topic of visiting cities. Ss will scan the text for 30 sec. - T elicits topic, a few details.
T will have steps on board to guide the students. 1. (with a picture of 1 person) Read 3 min. 2. Talk for 1 min (you can LOOK at the text - not read) 3. Read 3 min. 4. Talk for 1 min. 5. Find the adjectives to fill in the chart. S will read text for 3 min. S will stop reading and tell a partner s.t. about the text for 1 min. Ss will follow steps on board. Ss will be in groups of 4 (hopefully). T will monitor, perhaps eliciting some info from weaker students to ensure comprehension.
T will match an A with a B, in facing pairs. T will model - ask the Q, write the answer. T will have on board: "Please repeat that." and model with a S. "Please spell that." Ss pairs will ask, answer, record. T will monitor comp, pronun, and spelling. T writes 3 columns, Barcelona, San Francisco, and Other Cities On left, Where do you want to go? Why? Who do you want to go with? Ss write their names in column, and tell others why, mingle. (time? fill board with the vocab, quick round of touch it)
