Materials
Main Aims
-
To provide fluency speaking practice in a conversation in the context of on personal information of family members
Subsidiary Aims
-
To provide gist listening practice using a text about personal information in the context of family members
Procedure (39-50 minutes)
Activate Ss existing knowledge of the topic by showing "Hakan" picture, then introduce Hakan's family and elicit the relation of each member by making Ss guess.
After introducing Hakan's family, point out and write on WB the form of TL. Elicitation using body language will help Ss to create the questions and answers, then the TL will become clear with writing on WB so the Ss will be ready for the next activity. Next, Ss will be told to write on a mini-sheet personal information of their own family members, which makes them ready for the next activity.
The T plays an audio T4.6 file to help Ss perform the next speaking task. Using exercise 2 with added points, T will elicit the answer and writes model sentences as a reference so that it is clear to the student during the activity, but then delete in early after they start.
after each S writes his family members' names with some personal information, Ss will be asked to work in individually to speak the sentence "(name) is my brother, he is a student". The T then elicit the model question and answer and write it on WB so that Ss will have reference. Then they will do PW starting by trading sheets to practice asking "who is (name)" which will be one of the real family members of the other S, then the other student answers "he is my (noun)".
