Subsidiary Aims

  • To provide clarification of celebrities' life in the context of news

Procedure

Warmer/Lead-in (3-5 minutes) • To set lesson context and engage students

I'll ask the the students if they have ever seen anyone famous. If so, who did they see ? where were they? what were they doing ? did they take photos?

Pre-Reading/Listening (10-15 minutes) • To prepare students for the text and make it accessible

I'll focus the student attention on the photo and ask them what they can see and who they think the celebrity is. I'll give them handout that is a matching exercise that clarify the meaning of the new vocabulary. I'll go through the question with the class and I am going to either ask the students to discuss the questions in pairs or have a class discussion .

While-Reading/Listening #1 (10-12 minutes) • To provide students with less challenging gist and specific information reading/listening tasks

I'll tell the students that they're going to listen to an interview with Jack ,a paparazzo , and the first they should predict what his views are. I'll go through the statements and ask them to underline OK or not OK according to what they think Jack will say. I'll play the recording for them to check their ideas.

While-Reading/Listening #2 (7-10 minutes) • To provide students with more challenging detailed, deduction and inference reading/listening tasks

I'll play the recording to the students again and ask them If jack likes his job or not , and who is his favorite actor that he likes to take photographs of him or her.

Post-Reading/Listening (8-10 minutes) • To provide with an opportunity to respond to the text and expand on what they've learned

I'll ask the students to work in pairs and discuss whether or not they agree with Jack.
