Procedure (67-96 minutes)
I will show three pictures and have a discussion with the Ss about the pictures. What is happening on these pictures? Who are they? Are they spending their time wisely? Then I will get Feedback from Ss to deliver the context to them.
I will let Ss read the three conversations and then they will have to match each picture with it's right conversation. That way they will have an overall idea as to what is happening in the text. Similarly, they will be exposed to some of the underlined expressions and idioms. Then I will get the Ss to check their answers in pairs, after that I will get FB from them. And then I will make sure that they have understood the main idea of the text through their FB.
I will get the Ss attention to the underlined sentences or expressions and try to elicit from them the target language by asking them " What these expressions refers to? ". If they know , it's good, if not I will tell them " These are time idioms or expressions ".
I will write target language (time expressions) on the board and clarify the meaning, form and pronunciation for each expression and ask them to repeat after me.
I will ask Ss to replace the underlined phrases in Ex.1 with the time expressions in Ex.2 to check that they understand the meaning of the expressions. I will demonstrate to them by answering the first one to make clear instructions. At first they will work individually then let them check their answers in pairs. Then I will play a sound track for the conversations to check their answers.
I will ask Ss to work with a partner, and choose three of the expressions from Ex.2 and use them in a short conversation and then practice their conversations with their partner. I will demonstrate to them through a conversation between me and one of the attendance to make a clear instructions. A: I finished my homework early. B: Nice, so we have time to spare? A:Yes, let's watch a movie. B: OK, great !
