Procedure (34-42 minutes)
Have you ever seen Friends.This is a famous American TV show about flatmates. Now you are going to watch some episode about Joe. He is in a restaurant with his girlfriend. You do not need to understand every word, just try to understand if Joe likes his cake or not. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hxQeAG0c1Qo 02.02 03.05 Does he like his cake? No. Does he like any other cake? Her cake. Why wouldn't he order some chocolate cake too? There is no chocolate cake any more. Now work in groups and discuss what will happen when she comes back? What is the end of the story? You have 1 min. Feedback. Elicit ideas. Write them down on a board. Play the end of the movie. 03 05 - 03 56 Feedback. Who was right?
1. Imagine. You and your friends are in the same restaurant. You want to eat some cake. What would you ask the waiter? Have you got any ... ? Solo. You can see what is in a fridge. Keep your paper very secret and don't show your partner. Hand out works sheets. Now, B's you can see what is in a cupboard. Keep it very secret too and don't show your partner. Hand out works sheets. To the left of your paper there are some possible meals. Talk to your partner. Learn what food you have at home and what you can cook for supper. Use the language notes to help you. Monitor and Feedback. What meals have decided to cook? Do you have all ingredients? Why wouldn't you cook fried fish?
1. Pre teaching blocking vocabulary through matching words with their meaning. There are some words (flatmates, to share, to borrow, spend money, to do housework,a smoker). Read them and choose the correct description. Hand out worksheets. Work individually. Peer checking, Feedback - display correct choises. 2. Grouping. 5 groups A, B, C, D and E. You are flatmates. You share a flat. There are some problems in the flat and no one is happy. Read what problems you have. And write 4 rules for a fla, so every one can be happy. Hand out rolecards. You have 5 mins Monitor and help if it needed.
Regrouping. Create five new groups. Point out who is in which group. So each group contains A B C D E students. You are sitting in the living room with your flatmates.You are going to tell why you are not happy and your new rules for a flat. Students C, can you lift your hands? You wil start the meeting. Monitor and help if needed.
Monitoring collecting common errors and then correct them to whole class.
