To learn how to make positive and question form sentences using present progressive in the context of 'going out'.
Subsidiary Aims

To practise and improve receptive and productive skills through listening and speaking in the context of 'going out'.
Procedure (40-48 minutes)
- Project three photos of people doing different acivities. - Ask ss where they think these people are, and what they are doing. Can you tell me where are these people? What are they doing?
-Inform ss that they're going to listen to an audio clip and try to guess which photo each phone conversation refers to. -Pause after each conversation and ask for FB. -Give the ss HO and tell them to listen to the audio again and do exer. 1. - After eliciting present progressive tense take one sentence from the text and write the form on the WB. - Ask CCQs to clarify the meaning. When are we cooking? Is it yesterday, tomorrow or now? - Ask them to do exer. 2 and nominate ss for FB.
- Show the ss HO with exer. 3. Explain that they're going to work in pairs to form sentences in present progressive. - Project the exer. on the WB. Do the first one as an example with them. - Nominate ss to write the sentences on the board. - Show the ss next HO. Project it on the WB. They will discuss with their partners and make assumptions about the person on the photo. - Play the audio and ask them to answer the question while they're listening. - Have them check with their partners. Nominate ss to FB. - Inform the ss that they're going to listen again to do the next exer. - Have them check with their partners and nominate ss to FB.
-Write a positive sentence from the audio text. Try to elicit the question form from the students. I'm having a cup of coffee. Am I having a cup of coffee? - Write the question form structure on the WB. - Project matching exercise on the WB and give HOs. Have them do it individually first then check with partners. - Ask ss to come to the board and write the answers. - Show to ss the next HO. Choose a picture and write a conversation on the board. A: Where are you? B: I'm at the airport. A: What are you doing? B: I'm drinking a coffee. - Ask ss to find the picture (3). Instruct them to write a conversation with a picture in mind. They'll take turns to be A. -They will read their dialogues and their partners will try to identify the picture. - Nominate a pair to read their dialogue out loud.
- Project a photos of two multitasking women and ask them to discuss with their partner about what they are doing. - Nominate ss to FB
