Procedure (45-55 minutes)
"Going out" Teacher shows pictures (friends eating, drinking, dancing) ask some question about the picture: where are they? what are they doing? who are they with? Introduce "Going out" with friends, family....,etc
Introduce SS to telephone expressions: teacher choose a learner and say you phone me: A: -Hi or Hello -It's Ahmad here. teacher tells the class I can't talk to you what can i say? B: -I'm busy -can I call you later? = can I phone you? don't forget to drill present: Just now + gesturing call = phone later = not now (now it's 10:45, I'll call you later = maybe 12:00 13:00) (I'll call you later, I'm really busy)
Have SS do ex.1.a+b : teacher shows Tom and Sue photos ask where are they? Tom at home and Sue at work Are they busy? Sue is busy, but not Tom) divide then in groups of 3-4 Cut ups instructions: Tom and Sue are having a Phone conversation(talking on the phone) there are five sentences put them in the right order do one with them and then have them complete it in their groups SS listen to their conversation and check. teacher writes the phrases on the WB and do FB with WC
Have SS to do ex.2.a(listening) Underline tell SS Tom and Sue have another Conversation and they are goıng to lısten to ıt teacher shows SS the HO with Five sentences and tell them to underline the ones they hear in the voice clip Do a demonstration have SS do the task Individually check in pairs teacher sets why Sue is busy?
