To provide gist and detailed reading practice from two texts about hostels in the context of travelling
Subsidiary Aims

To practice speaking for accuracy and fluency through conversation in the context of hostels.

To learn new vocabulary in the context of hostels
Procedure (32-49 minutes)
-Have projection ready -Remind ss that in Mahfooz's lesson they talked about a place they visited. -Ask ss if they know the word "hostel" -Show the picture of a hostel -Give them the definition -Show the pictures of "Lighthouse Hostel" and " Three Black Catz Hostel" -Ask ss whether if they know what they are - Hostels
-Project matching exercise on WB -Pair ss and tell them to match the words with the definitions or pictures -Demonstrate, match one yourself -Give them HOs -Give the answers on WB
-Divide the ss into two groups (A and B) -Show them HOs, and tell them to find and write the things that the hostels have. -Demonstrate -Tell ss to do it individually and that they have one minute -Give ss HOs (to group A "Three Black Catz Hostel" and to the group B "Lighthouse Hostel") -Ask them to discuss their answers with their groups -Give WC feedback
-Ask ss to read the text again and answer these questions individually -Give the HOs -Monitor them -Tell ss to discuss their answers in their groups -Give them the answers keys -No WC feedback since they will discuss their answers in pairs as A and B
-Tell group A to line up on the left and group B to line up on the right. -Make them pairs -Ask group A to hand up, tell (and show) them to ask these questions to their partners -Do same thing for the group B -Demonstrate how to do it -Give them HOs -Ask them to check their answers with their partners -Give WC feedback
- Divide them into groups of four - Ask them to discuss if they would stay in one of the hostels they have read and why - WCFB - After that in their groups, ask students to make their own hostels and a list of things that they want in their hostel and have them name it. - WCFB
