Main Aims

For Ss, to review and practice word formations: noun to verb, adjectives and adverbs in the context of being human. For Ss, to practice listening for specific information in the context of being human.
Subsidiary Aims

For Ss, to review, identify, differentiate and practice zero and first conditionals in writing accurate sentences.
Procedure (62-80 minutes)
During this stage, tr gives Ss the autobiography they wrote on the topic Animals. For error correction: Tr conducts a race. Incorrect sentences are written on the board. Ss are to write down the correct sentence. The S who writes the correct sentence first is the winner. Tr. elicits the elements of a story hand from the Ss by questioning them: What should you keep in mind while writing a story? Tr writes down their answers on the IWB and then compares them with the ones on a story hand.
A few pictures are displayed on the IWB. Ss are to discuss the following in pairs. What do you think has made each person successful? What according to you is success? Complete this sentence: The key to success is ............
Ss are instructed to listen to the recording and match people to the reasons for their success. PC and WCFB are done.
Ss are instructed to discuss the reasons for the success of people mentioned in the recording. Ss are asked to choose four verbs, nouns, adjectives and adverbs to describe their success. Ss share their answers with the class.
The IWB is divided into nouns, verbs, adjectives and adverbs and the answers from the previous task are written on the IWB. If the word : talent is written in the noun column, tr asks Ss to write the adjective form for the same. She also questions Ss: Does the word talent have a verb or an adverb form? No Similarly other words discussed in the previous task are written in the correct columns and Ss are asked to write other forms of the same word. Ss are then questioned: How do you change from verb to noun, or adjective to adverb? (you write/change the ending) What are these endings called? Suffix Different suffixes used to change the verbs to nouns or adjectives to adverbs are written on the board.
Task 1: Ss are given a table and are asked to fill in the missing boxes with the correct form of the words. PC and WCFB are done. Task 2: Ss are given a HO with sentences and are instructed to correct w complete the given sentences with the correct form of the word. PC and WCFB are done. Task 3: Ss are asked to make four sentences with a noun, verb, adjective and adverb of their choice.
Tr. monitors and notes down mistakes during the previous tasks. She writes incorrect sentences on the board and asks SS to correct them.
Ss are instructed to open their text books to page 67 and complete Ex 3 and 4. PC and WCFB are done.
Ss are instructed to write 2 few openers, with zero and first conditionals. They swap the phrases with each other and complete the phrases. Answers are shared with the class. PC and WCFB are done.
