Procedure (37-42 minutes)
Show Ss pictures of two different people having a job interview. Elicit what the topic of today's lesson is. Ss predict who will get a job and explain why. Work as the whole class.
Draw St attention to the pictures in the photocopy and the heading "In the street'. Ask Ss what the listening is going to be about and who these people are. Ss work in pairs and brainstorm. Monitor. Take some general FB. Explain that Ss will have to understand who from those five people definitely got the job. Pre-teach blocking vocabulary: Rescue Remedy, current, suitable. Help with meaning, examples and CCQs. Ss listen to the recording 27. Ss discuss the answers in new pairs. W/C FB.
Give Ss time to read through the task. Check Ss what they are listening for and take notes if they want. SS listen to the recording again and do ex. b. Ss compare answers in groups. Monitor - pay attention to problem areas for FB. Take w/c FB - deal with any issues. If necessary Ss can listen to the whole or parts again.
Explain the task. Ss listen to the recording and try to complete the highlighted phrases. Ss discuss the answers in pairs. w/c FB - put the phrases onto the board, elicit their meaning. Clarify the FPA. Check Ss understanding of the new items in 'Make your own sentence' exercise. Work as the whole class.
Ask Ss to look at the questions. Demonstrate the exercise. Ss are engaged in mingling activity. w/c FB - writing answers to Q3. Take general FB to wrap up.
