Main Aims

The main aim of the lesson is to check knowledge of basic vocabulary for talking about family.
Subsidiary Aims
-
My aim is to review and practise numbers from 0 to 10, and try something more ambitious like telephone numbers or prices in different currencies.
Procedure (35-46 minutes)
Say good morning, and introduce myself by writing my name on the whiteboard and also saying it out loud to the class
-Match the words with the pictures -pass out HO's to SS to match vocabulary to words with pictures(demo the first out loud) -Monitor SS while they match the words to the numbers, after completing the task I will write the answers on the board, and ask SS about incorrect answers, and eliciting the correct words.
-Pair SS in groups -Ask SS to talk about their families to each other
-Put photocopies pictures on the white board of one boy, several boys, one girl, several girls, and a few children together. -Ask SS tell me what they see - one boy, plural - boys - one girl, plural - girls - one child, plural - children -Have SS repeating this again, showing the pictures in a different order to make sure they grasp the meaning of plural
-Pass out photocopies with exercise -Read the sentences to the SS -Play recording, ask SS to listen to the sentences and while listening to read it as well -Check answers and move on to next exercise -Ask SS to listen and read the sentences -Ask SS to write the correct words on their' copies -Listen to the recording and ask SS to check the answers -Feedback on wrong and right answers -Divide SS in pairs -Ask SS to look at people on the pictures and say who they are - then ask each pair to write three sentences to say who they think the people are - for example: "I think the couple in picture two is husband and wife." -Feedback - have each group read out the sentences they have written
-Ask SS to write two sentences about their family -Ask a few SS to read out loud to the class
-If there is any time left have SS repeat the numbers
