To provide reading practice using a text about giving away Twitter accounts in the context of world news
Procedure (54-66 minutes)
T tags the four news headlines and the pictures from "warm-up" H/O for the sts to match
T makes the list of vocabulary (from lexis match H/O) into stripes. Each student, if possible, is given one piece of paper of either the term or the definition. Sts will have to walk around listening to others saying what they have on their piece of paper until they find the match. T will be monitoring and giving feedback.
T hands over the three pieces of the text from "order the paragraphs" H/O to each group of three. Sts do them and check with the other groups. T gives feedback writing the correct order on the WB.
T hands over the "full article" H/O for sts to read it individually and do the True/ False exercise from the True/ False H/O. Sts check in pairs then T hands over the key.
T projects/ hands over the "Grammar" H/O to each st. They have to match the "grammar tense" to the "sample sentence" to the use of it. Sts can come to match them on the WB. T elicits
T asks sts to write a short piece of news using the following structures: 1. Simple present for the headline and subtitle. 2. Present perfect simple to tell the news. 3. Simple past to relate the piece of news to a past event.
