Give Ss 2' to complete this task, it shouldn't be too detailed. Monitor to provide some vocabulary and to check if Ss are using the events on the list. Ask 2 or 3 students to talk about their peer's participation to one of those events.
Ss change pairs. Ask Ss to listen to the recording (CD2, T7r1). Show which person is speaking on the WB, Ss can use given names from Lead-in stage as reference from now on. Ask Ss to discuss in pairs which events the stories are about, they can use and find them on the list in Material 1 (2'). Ask for FB WC. Elicit correct answers and write them under pictures on WB.
Ask Ss to read the questions in ex.2 Material 1. Check that Ss understand the meaning of "take place", "mentioned" and "atmosphere". Ask Ss to listen to the recording again and fill up the boxes with their answers. Play the recording. HO Material 2. Ask Ss to fold the page in the middle. Check in pairs. T: "how many did you get the same?".
Ask Ss too turn around the page (Material 2) and read through the text for vocabulary. Focus Ss attention on "utterly spectacular" and "just completely come alive", elicit vocabulary. Ask Ss to associate sentences with stories (2'). Let Ss listen to the recording to check their answers. HO tapescript, Ss can check their answers in detail at home.
HO Material 3. Ask Ss to turn the page around and choose one memorable event they have participated to. Ask Ss to go around the class and ask for other Ss' informations, fill the boxes in Material 3. T can join the activity monitoring and help Ss with more difficulties.
