Description

In this lesson, Ss will practice listening for gist and listening for details process to a song called "Imagine" They will learn new vocabulary through pre teaching vocabulary.

Procedure

Warmer/Lead-in (3-5 minutes) • To set lesson context and engage students

1-T asks Ss to close there eyes and imagine a world of only peace. she tells them some motivated words and encourage them to say their words aloud.For example, NO HUNGER, HAPPINESS, PEACE ...etc. 2- T plays a video about human rights 3- T says: See, what we all IMAGINED is here in the video, right? 4- So, peace is one of human's....... (RIGHTS)

Pre_Listening (5-10 minutes) • To prepare students for the text and make it accessible

T sticks some flashcards to the board, then sticks the pictures to another side of the board. T asks Ss to work as a WC activity to match the words to the pictures. Then, T checks the meaning of the words through CCQs Then practice drilling Heaven Greed Hunger Possessions above below brotherhood

While-Reading/Listening #1 (7-10 minutes) • To provide students with less challenging gist and specific information reading/listening tasks

T show Ss a piece of paper that contains the lyrics of a song. T tells them to listen and fill the gaps while listening. T replays the song again if needed. Ss check their answers T gives FB

While-Reading/Listening #2 (12-14 minutes) • To provide students with more challenging detailed, deduction and inference reading/listening tasks

T handouts a more challenging activity T handouts a sequence of questions : T tells Ss to write down only notes. 1- What does the song talk about? 2- What is the part that attracted you most? Why? 3- how many times in which the word "Imagine" is repeated? 4- What are the negative qualities that are mentioned ? 5- what are the positive qualities that are mentioned? T replays the song many times to assure that Ss can get everything. Ss work in pairs to check T monitors then gives FB.

Post-Reading/Listening (0-6 minutes) • To provide with an opportunity to respond to the text and expand on what they've learned

T set a free task: Now, after you listened to the song, try to write down at least 4 sentences about the world in peace. Think of the positives things that would be done, and bad things that would be gone. Ss check in pairs t monitors, gives help and corrects the mistakes.
