Subsidiary Aims
-
To provide review the vocabulary in the context of free time activitites/ to practise controlled speaking
Procedure (32-43 minutes)
I will engage the students in a discussion where they will talk about things they like, i will start by myself saying ( for example in the context of food " i love eating fish") and i'm going to ask someone else what kind of food do you like ? then i will ask them to talk about things they like ( either in the context of food , hobbies etc).
Next it will be doing the first exercise which is matching the pictures with the right vocabs . i have nine vocabs to teach in the context of free activities as ( flying , dancing , watching sport on tv). i will stick the pictures around the room , i will split the class to three groups , each group is going to have his own coloured vocab cards and i'm going to ask them to match the vocab cards on the pictures . after that i will ask them to check their answers. next i will do some drilling by going throught the vocabs given .
In this stage i will introduce like , love , don't like , hate but using some pictures of facial expressions ( smileys) and i will ask the students to tell me which word goes with the facial expression ( Ex 2) when i'll be sure that students understood the words i will elicit the Form so they can get the grammatical structure . like +noun or like +verb +ing
Next step will be to ask the students (Demo) to write three true and three false sentences about things they love , like , don't like or hate ( some CCQ's will be asked before " are you going to write about things you like ? are you going to write about things you hate ? are they going to be all true ? are they going to be all false ?) checking the answers like .and i will ask them to check their answers in pairs and find out which one of the sentences is true or false .
Finally i will give the students an activity to check their understanding , also to improve their productive skill of speaking which a table made of two columns. they should fill the first column with the type of things they like and they should fill the second column with the name of the student that he or she likes the same things as they do. they will move around the room and start to ask each other about the items they have written in the first column by asking the question (do you like ...?)
