In this lesson, students will practice their listening skills through listening to a conversations between two persons who are talking about the weather.The lesson will start with a short video about the weather. This is followed by two activities about weather's vocabularies.. Finally we will go over a speaking activity about the weather..

Main Aims

  • To provide gist and detailed listening practice using conversations about sports and the weather in the context of weather.

Subsidiary Aims

  • To provide conversation fluency speaking practice in the context of holidays and weather.
  • To provide practice of weather words in the context of holidays 'sports' and weather .

Procedure

Warmer/Lead-in (2-4 minutes) • To set lesson context and engage students

I will ask the students to take a look at the video and to describe it ..guessing what is the video talking about .. asking what is the weather like today ..What month gets the most rain in Egypt?.. to activate them .

Pre-Listening (5-7 minutes) • To prepare students for the text and make it accessible

I will ask the students to take a look at the pictures and to describe the situation asking what is this guy doing ?..to elicit the meanings of sports words that they will handle next exercise ..

While-Listening #1 (8-10 minutes) • To provide students with less challenging gist and specific information reading/listening tasks

I will ask sts to take a look at the three pictures ..then read the conversations and match each one with one of the sports in the box ..ask them to check and work in pairs.. check answer with the class ..

While-Listening #2 (7-9 minutes) • To provide students with more challenging detailed, deduction and inference reading/listening tasks

I will ask sts to take a look at the video to clarify the meaning of words that they are going to deal with next exercise .. ask them to complete the table with words from the conversations ..go round ..monitoring and giving help where necessary .. play the recordings to listen and check their answers .. play it again to repeat the weather phrases ..

Post-Listening (3-5 minutes) • To provide with an opportunity to respond to the text and expand on what they've learned

ask sts to take turns taking the different roles in the conversations ad to practise them ..
