Procedure (41-53 minutes)
T will project extracts from the previous reading T will ask Ss to have a short discussion as a group to figure out the difference between the two groups of extracts to elicit "certainty vs possibility" for the sake of the meaning of TL. T will tell the groups to say "banana" as soon as they find out the answer T will just monitor T will provide WCFB
T will ask further CCQs after the discovery of "certainty vs. possibility" in order to highlight the TL e.g. How do we get that it is a possibility to swim with the sharks? What word gives that meaning? WCFB
T will project the extract from the reading as the marker sentence for guided discovery T will give Ss handouts including CCQs for GD and tell them work in pairs Group check and T will give the answer key T will provide Fb through justifications Then, T will give in the gap fill HO for the form and tell Ss to work in pairs, again T will provide the answer key Then, T will drill the sentence to make Ss practice intonation and word stress
T will give Ss gap-fill HO to practice the form and tell them work in pairs Group check and the answer key Further FB for Ss' questions
T will project various meanings of First conditional via PPT T will give Ss Meanings HO with 7 diverse sentences and ask them work in pairs to match the meanings with sentences correctly Group check and answer key FB with justification if there's a confusion
T will explain Ss how to create a short story with unexpected consequences by using the TL. T will give each group a card including the beginning of the story with an IF clause and tell them complete it at 5 steps as a group with an unexpected consequence T will monitor without intervention and collect fundamental errors for delayed correction T will swap papers of groups and tell the groups to check for errors T will ask each group to tell the first IF clause and the last main clause T will do error correction for grammar
T will point to the youngest person in each group and make him/her tell his/her group about a future plan of an extreme sports holiday T will ask the rest of the members to give advice, make predictions, warnings or state instructions for him and also tell the youngest to agree or object T will monitor and collect errors for delayed correction FB and delayed correction
