Procedure (47-62 minutes)
Teacher stands in front of the class, drops a pen on the floor , and asks students what has just happened ? .Teacher writes the answer on the board . Teacher asks Ss to identify the parts of sentence [ subject +verb +object ] =====>. Then teacher asks Ss to start with the object. [ object +be +past participle ] <=======
Teacher asks Ss to answer Ex 1 by themselves and take care of the different types of paasive voice forms in past. They answer individual, then check their answers together.
Teacher writes sentences from[ a to d ] in Ex 1 to explain passive .First teacher asks students to identify the parts of sentences.[ subject +verb + object ] . Then he asks them to identify the tense of each sentences. Teacher asks ss to start with object. From the previous reading in Ex1 to highlight the sentences that have passieve voice , ss notice that the base form of passive is to use verb to be + past participle. Teache clarify the meaning of passive and using of it : Passive voice is used when the focus is on the action. It is not important or not known, however, who or what is performing the action.Example: My bike was stolen. In the example above, the focus is on the fact that my bike was stolen. I do not know, however, who did it.Sometimes a statement in passive is more polite than active voice, Example: A mistake was made. In this case, I focus on the fact that a mistake was made, but I do not blame anyone (e.g. You have made a mistake.). Teacher elicits forms from them from sentences in ex1 Present simple passive ( am / is are ) + past participle Past simple passive ( was /were) + past participle Present perfect passive ( has been / have been ) +pp Past perfect passive ( had been ) + pp Present Continuous passive ( am / is /are ) + being +pp Past continuous passive ( was / were ) + being +pp Phonology Teacher elicits the pronunciation from them and correct the mistakes.
Teacher asks Ss to answer Ex 2 to check their comprehension of the forming of passive . Teacher gives them feedback back . Then teacher asks them to answer Ex3 from (a to f) individual then check their answer together and finally teacher gives them feedback
Students speak together in pairs about an a strange an accident that they had heared and the agent was unknown by using passive voice
