To provide gist and detailed reading practice using a text about adventurous holiday in Mexico in the context of adventurous holidays.
Subsidiary Aims

To provide fluency speaking practice in a discussion in the context of adventurous holidays and extreme sports.
Procedure (38-48 minutes)
T will introduce the topic with a video about a holiday in mexico.
T will have the students to sit in groups and ask them the questions; - Have you ever been to Mexico for a holiday? if not, would you like to go? - Does the idea of an extreme sports holiday appeal to you, or would you rather spend your holiday relaxing on the beach? T will then ask each group for their answers and what they think about extreme sports.
T will then hand out the reading task and have the students to quickly read the reading text individually for 4 minutes. T will then ask the students to discuss with their group which title best suits this reading task and why it is suitable for this reading text. The students will have to choose between; a) Relaxing holiday in Mexico b)Adventure! Mexican Style c) Sightseeing in Mexico T will then ask each group which one they have chosen and why they have chosen that title.
T will then hand out a gap fill HO to the students. T will ask the students to work individually, skimming and scanning the reading text to help them fill in the gaps in the text. T will then ask the students to peer check and share their answers. T will then go through the answers with the students. T will then give the second HO, Where the students must find words or phrases in the text that match meanings. Students will work individually reading and completing the HO. T will then provide an answer key and go through the answers the students answered incorrect.
T will then group the students and have then discuss as a group which activities in the text they would like to try? and why? T will then nominate one person from each group to explain which activities they would like to try and why.
