To provide gist, scan and detailed reading practice using a text about Extreme sports in the context of Caving
Subsidiary Aims

To provide fluency speaking practice in a debate in the context of Dos and Dont's
Procedure (41-54 minutes)
T will ask Ss if they are interested in sports and by using visuals via PPT and CCQs, T will elicit "rules: Dos and Don'ts" to be a good sportsperson to remind them of the previous lesson
T will give Ss a matching HO including visuals and tell Ss work in pairs to match the visuals with the correct words. The word definitions will also be projected on the Wb via PPT to help Ss understand them faster and easily. T will provide WCFB via PPT and drill
T will introduce the reading text and give clear instructions for gist reading T will ask ICQs and then Ss will skim the text for 2 min. Then Ss will work in pairs and match the subtitles for each paragraph. Each group will match one of the subtitles and WCFB including justifications
T will ask Ss to do scan reading and make a list of Dos and Dont's for Caving including obligatory rules, non-mandatory things and prohibitions Ss will work alone and then check as a group. T will monitor WCFB and delayed error correction
T will give Ss detailed reading HO that will also be projected on the WB via PPT and tell them to read the text and do the task alone , first. Then, Ss will check their answers as a group together with a discussion about their justifications T will ask a member from each group to run to the WB and mark T/F for one claim. WCFB including justifications
T will give each group a speaking card and tell them to have a discussion as a group by using modal verbs properly for whatever is asked on the card. e.g (task on the card) To be a good citizen, you (must/have to/mustn't/don't have to)......... Ss will be supposed to tell at least one sentence as a feedback The lesson will end by Error correction session.
