Procedure

Warmer/Lead-in (3-5 minutes) • To set lesson context and engage students

T projects a video of British house teacher is drilling some words in class. Ss start discussing about the video they've already watched. T gets Ss to suggest the ways they can teach contractions in pairs then in groups. T askes each group to give the strongest idea in their group.

T ask Ss to write some 5 contracted words in their group. T asks each group to stick their paper on the wall. Ss stand up and look at other groups contracted words. T gets each group to write the most difficult contracted forms on whiteboard. T reads each sentence and repeats the contracted words.you should've/should've/you should've told/you should've told me. Ss repeat each time.

T gives student a handout containing some sentences which have contracted forms. T gets students to read the text and underline contracted forms. Ss read and underline them. T asks students to practice the contracted sentences in pairs. T changes the pairs.

Planning (6-8 minutes) • To provide an opportunity to plan students' reports

T chooses two Ss to teach the contracted words they've already written. T gets other Ss to focus on their teaching and write problems if any.

Report (6-8 minutes) • To allow students to report on how they did the task and how it went

T gets students to suggest other ways of drilling. Ss give suggestions. T explains There are different kinds of drilling, such as choral drill, which involves the whole class, and substitution drill, where the teacher changes the cue words after each repetition. T divides class into 2 groups and gets them to chose one of the drilling techniques and practice in their group. T chooses one S in each group and gets them to drill 3 words for WC.

Language Analysis (6-8 minutes) • To clarify the meaning, form and pronunciation of the task language

T asks each group to write LA for (The film had started) considering form/pronunciation . T gets students to find 2 problems and 2 solutions.
