Elementary level

Description

In this lesson , Ss learn about using articles in English language , articles like "a , an , the , "no article " . Putting the convenient article before the word has it's rules , which should be cleared for Ss . Ss will practice a lot of different exercises about that articles . AS T , I see after this class , Ss will have a total understanding articles and their rules .

Main Aims

  • To provide practice of articles " a, an , the " in English by using different exercises , in the context of getting from A to B " travelling "

Subsidiary Aims

  • To provide specific information listening practice for checking an exercise which supports articles topic in the context of getting from A to B " travelling "

Procedure

Warmer (3-5 minutes) • To set lesson context and engage students

1) T welcome the students , as it is the first class for him with elementary students , tell them that he will be happy teaching them along next four classes , then check their name , and tell them his name "Radwa" . 2) T divide the students into groups , as it can be possible . 3)T tell the students that he is going to show them four pictures , and he wants them to complete the sentence related with the picture with a convenient word . 4) T tell the students , to work individually in the first , then they are going to check with their partners in the group . 5) T check if the students understand what is required or not , by asking " Firstly, are you going to work individually or in group ?" , then tell them "let's start " .

Exposure (3-5 minutes) • To provide context for the target language through a text or situation

1)As a teacher tell them , that they will take a small exercise , give them the paper , then tell them to look at picture and complete the text with the shown words . 2)tell them to work individually then check their partner in the group . 3) after finishing , ask groups to check with each other ,as every group choose one to speak , and speaker of the first group say the first answer , the other group tell he agree or not , one by another until they finish .

Highlighting (4-6 minutes) • To draw students' attention to the target language

As a teacher give the students the next exercise , which require to underline the articles in the previous text . Then ask them to answer the next exercise in the same paper in groups .

Clarification (3-5 minutes) • To clarify the meaning, form and pronunciation of the target language

1)After highlighting the aim of the grammar lesson , the teacher is going to clarify the target language . 2) The teacher is going to write the words in the previous exercise on the board , "weekend , golf , the united Arab Emirates , engineer , Saturday , Dubai , Wednesday

Controlled Practice (5-8 minutes) • To concept check and prepare students for more meaningful practice

1) The teacher give the students , the practice paper , and ask them to answer in groups . 2) The teacher ask the students , if they have finished , then let them listen to the audio to check their answer .

Free Practice (10-12 minutes) • To provide students with free practice of the target language

1)The teacher give the students the first free practice , it consist of ten question , if there are groups , these ten question will be divide by them , if there are just individuals , the ten questions will be divided by them , answering is in pairs , everyone answer a question until finishing . 2)The teacher gives the students , the quiz as a final practice , asking them to work individually as much as they can , then the teacher check the right answers with them .
