Description

In this lesson, there is a productive task for students to brainstorm ideas about transport in small groups ..Ss will practise describing puplic transport through reading ' transport survey' questions and answering it .. followed by individually writing a paragraph ..writing their own sentences using the given vocabulary, which they will then use to talk to each other. .. Ss will provide feedback to each other by reading each other's paragraphs , comparing .. then peer/self correcting errors..

Procedure

Warmer/Lead-in (3-5 minutes) • To set lesson context and engage students

-T shows ss a short video about ' puplic transport ' giving them some cards with questions .. -ASK ss to answer it during watching .. -Ask them to work together and discuss ..then feedback ..

Exposure ..To review the transport vocabulary and elicit relevant collocations..#checking meanings (5-6 minutes) • To provide a model of production expected in coming tasks through reading/listening

-elicit the meaning of "survey"..and form -T try to drill it ..and ask about the stress syllable ..

Useful Language (8-10 minutes) • To highlight and clarify useful language for coming productive tasks

-Tell Ss they are going to ask and answer questions about transport /ˈtræn.spɔːt/ .. - put Ss into two groups A,B.. -Ask Ss to work together to write the full questions for their survey .. Show Ss examples on the board .. "you\drive a car ?" ..can you drive a car ? "how far\ walk every week "...how far do you walk every week ? -ask Ss in their pairs practise reading the questions out loud .. -get them to stress the main verb and noun in each Q.. -Do a couple of exambles on the board .. -refer Ss to the box a and drill these possible answers ..-Ss in A\B groups ask and answer the questions filling in the circles for their partner ..usind the "useful language box at page 49 :" -put cards with this expressions on the board -.. -ask Ss to report back on their partner .. then get the feedback "so tell me ! can your partner drive a car ? " ..

Productive Task(s) (11-13 minutes) • To provide an opportunity to practice target productive skills

-ask ss to write a paragraph of 4sentence at least about "how they use public transport ".. -put some examples on the board "I travel to school by .."..."the journey is about ..""I think public transport in my town is .."

Feedback and Error Correction (7-10 minutes) • To provide feedback on students' production and use of language

Ss will provide feedback to each other by reading each other's paragraphs , comparing .. then peer/self correcting errors.. -This can be followed by general error correction if there a little time left, or a vocabulary review game if there is more time left..
