Description

In this lesson, students learn about use of conjunctions through guided discovery based on a listening about technological advances. The lesson starts with a role-play including three sentences by the teacher to engage the students in order to review previous lesson and joint it with the new one. It continues by a puzzle to solve two by two to elicit some words .Then it continues by a related listening containing the model sentences .After that there is some controlled practice through sentences.Then free practice via a final speaking activity in which will be introduced some useful phrases.

Procedure

Warm-up / lead-in (2-3 minutes) • To review previous lesson to join it to the new one

The teacher starts with a quick review of previous lesson. She role-plays that she is looking for someone to make friend with so they might have some similarities. She says a sentence about herself. If there is anyone the same as her ,she or he will answer by the use of previous structure. The teacher's sentence is related to technology so that she can lead them to the new lesson as well.

Exposure and useful language (4-6 minutes) • To provide context for the target language through a text or situation.

The teacher uses one of her sentences in the lead-in(" I love solving puzzles" ) to present them a puzzle to work on two by two and guess the words related to technological advances. Then she asks them a question , and they are supposed to discuss with their partners to complete a sentence by the answer.The teacher will get the feedback

Listening task (6-8 minutes) • To provide context for the target language through a text or situation

They will be shown a picture of some people from different countries who are talking about technological advances .The student should match the advances with the speakers. After eliciting the answers on the board, they will listen again for detail question.This time the teacher pauses after each speaker and they share their answers in pair.The teacher gets the feedback after each part.

Highlighting target language (3-4 minutes) • To highlighting target language so that learners are focused on it

The teacher asks them a question by which they will come up with the model sentences in the listening script.Then she will write them on the board

Clarifying target language (8-10 minutes) • To clarify the meaning form and pronunciation of the target language

The teacher asks them some CCQs to clarify the meaning.Then she present the form on the board above each sentence.In the end she highlights the pronunciation.After that she gives them another handout as a controlled practice to do with their partners.In the feedback they will be asked the reason they have chosen each answer.

Language practice (10-12 minutes) • To provide an opportunity to practice the target language and speaking

As a freer practice they will be presented by some useful phrases and will be shown through some examples by the teacher how to use them.Now in their groups they must try to use them in addition to the new structure.While they are talking in their groups they will be monitored by the teacher to check any error.The teacher will takes notes and then will write her notes on the board for the students to discuss in their groups if they are correct or not and why.
