Procedure (32-45 minutes)
1) T will show some pictures to get the student attention's and engage them in the context of reading. 2) T will set a pairs discussion reading by giving questions to answer discuss in pairs. - How often do you read? - What do you read? - Do you think the internet and television will eventually make books vanish? - If you were to write a book, what will it be about?
T will hand the ss a short text about reading and ask them to do a gist reading individually and come up with the main ideas of each of text's paragraphs. The student then will check their answers in pairs.
1) T will expose the students to two new vocabulary they can use when discussing their reading habits. 2) [Optional] T will hand the sts a gap-fill handouts that they need to fill using the words in the sheet as a bank. The handout is about the types of texts and which are random in the sheet, but the sts need to put them in the right category where they belong. Then checking in pairs for peer correction.
T will first get the sts to change their pairs; then ask them to discuss their reading habits in pairs.
T will ask the ss to sit in to rows in a way that they are facing each other. Sts will be handed a HO of the ex 5 - a which is a questionnaire. The questionnaire has four sections that have 3 - 5 question in each; "General reading", "Do you read books for pleasure? - (Yes)", "Do you read books for pleasure? - (No)" and "Reading and listening". Sts then will question each other in a rotating method (i.e. every student will ask each of the other sts questions of one of the sections until he/she gets all the answers and then stop).
