Description

In this lesson, Student will learn about Present Simple tense with using I, you, we, they. The positive and negative forms are also practiced along with Wh and yes no questions.

Procedure

Warmer/Lead-in (3-5 minutes) • To set lesson context and engage students

~I will put pictures of sports , food, and drinks on the board ask to elicit ( what are these?) ~then put the picture of "tennis" , "football", and "swimming" ask to elicit (What's this?) ~Give them the HO for exercise 1 Ask them to match as many as they can (Individually) *encourage them if they are not sure Ask them to compare in pairs before WCFB. (feedback)

Listening (5-6 minutes) • To get them repeat and produce the correct word stress.

~Play the recording 5.1 once and get them to repeat (Whole class and then individually) *Make sure they produce the correct word stress on each item. (error correction) ~Hold up the picture of exercise 1 and ask : What's this ?/ What are these? elicit replies about 3-4 items. (feedback) ~Get them to ask and answer in pairs. (feedback)

While Listening #1 (6-8 minutes) • To provide students with less challenging gist and specific information listening tasks

~Write on the board 3-4 things that you like from exercise 1 ✅them and show your expression 😊 ~ Get them to ✅ things they like in exercise 1 ~Repeat the same for the negative ✘ the things you don't like and express ☹️ ~ Get them to ✘the things they dislike.

While Listening #2 (8-10 minutes) • To provide students with more challenging detailed, deduction and inference listening tasks

~Put the photos of smiley face and the sentence "I like ice-cream" "I like football" on the board. ~Play the recording once ~ask them to repeat (WC then individually) ~Give and example of 3 things you like from exercise 1 * get them to point to the correct picture as you say " I like ......" ~ elicit more examples from 1-2 students. ~ get them to talk about the things they like (in pairs) #error correction # monitoring

While listening #3 (8-10 minutes) • To provide students with more understanding of the negative form

~put the pictures of exercise 3 on the board. ~Focus att on the photos ( the negative face icons and the sentences) ~Say the sentences yourself using mimes and gestures to reinforce the meaning. ~ play the recording 5.3 once before you ask them to repeat. ~play the recording again and ask Ss to repeat WC and individually. *Make sure they can reproduce the sentence stress correctly. I (din't) like (tennis). ~Refer Ss back to exercise 1 ~Give 3 examples of things you don't like and get them to point at the correct ones *Focus attention on the speech bubble and drill the example with "or". *Make sure Ss can reproduce the sentence stress accurately. " I don't like oranges, coffee, or tea" ~ elicit more examples from 1-2 Ss ~ ask Ss to take it in turns to talk to each other about what they don't like. * ask a few Ss to give their examples to the class using: " I ....."

LA Grammar (1 minutes) • to make sure Ss understand the contracton of "Do not"

~focus att on the examples Example: I like ice cream / I don't like tennis / don't = do not Make sure they understand this contraction * Don't give grammatical explanation on this stage

Listening #4 (3-4 minutes) • To provide students with more challenging detailed, deduction and inference listening tasks

~ show them the photo pf Harvey ~ ask where he's from? * elicit " United States" ~ give them the Ho ~ ask them to read the gapped sentences ~ ask Ss what Harvey Likes from the list in Exercise 1 ~ play the recording 5.4 once and ask Ss to check their predictions ~ focus on the example and play the first line of the recording again ~Play the rest of the recording and get SS to write their answers ~ Instruct them to check in pairs and then WC #monitoring #feedback

Exersise (3 minutes) • To provide students with more challenging exercises about the context

-Show the Ho exercise 1 Pg 28 ~tell SS that this is a crossword and they should look at the pictures and complete it (in pairs) ~ask SS to check their answers in WC

Listening #5 (3-5 minutes) • To provide students with more challenging detailed, deduction and inference listening tasks

~Focus on the exmaples: (Write them on the board Do you like football? / Yes I do Do you like tennis ? / No i don't ~Play the recording 5.5 and ask them to repeat * make sure Ss get the reproduce the pronunciation * didn't forget to write the pronunciation on the board " do you " /dju:/ and the rising intonation of Yes/No ~Get them to ask you and provide real answers ~ get them to ask and answer the speech bubbles in exercise 7 in open pairs. ~get them to practice with new partners " now change your partners" #monitor # feedback

Listening #6 • To provide students with more challenging listening task

~This task introduces "we" and "they" in the interview of Harvey and his sister ~give them the Ho from exercise 8 ~Quickly review the adjectives in the box by saying a range of foods /places/singers and get the respond with and adj (WC) Examples: foods: iskender-manti (delicious) weather: today's weather (awful) places : Istanbul -Antalia (exciting - great) subject: English (Exciting) #feedback ~show them the Ho 8 and ask couple of Q such as : Who's Eva ?/ ~ elicit she's" Harvey's sister" ~ tell Ss that " listen to interview between Harvey and Eva and ask them to tick what they like and what they don't like. ~play the recording ~ elicit that" Eva likes pizza too"
