To provide specific information and detailed listening practice using a text about problems that occured in the context of hotels and events in the hotel
Procedure (39-51 minutes)
Get the students to talk about: "What is most important for you in a hotel?" Write on the board, For example: For me the hotel has to be next to the sea, a swimming pool, restaurants and the nightlife. PW FB
Two people went to the hotel for the weekend. Listen to the recording and tick the problems they had. Read the problems they may have had. HO activity 1 Peer check FB you are going to listen again and put the events in order. Students read the events Unfold HO activity 2 Peer check FB
Split the board into two. Future 'will' and 'going to' We use Will ('ll) + infinitive when we decide something at the moment of speaking. Example: Don't worry. I'll ask him to fix it. Ss work in groups of three. Activity 4: The Peake Hotel has two friendly stars but the Peake family want three stars. They have a family meeting to decide what to do. Choose the correct form of verb to complete the dialogue. (4mins) FB
Activity 5: change pairs PW Complete the dialogue between a guest and a hotel manager with ''ll' or the correct form of 'going to'. Listen to the recording to check answers.
