Description

In this lesson students will be introduced to and practice lexis and phonology associated with list of common verbs concentrating on the pronunciation. Then students are going to do an exercise and complete the verbs with a phrase.Students will work in pairs to practice eliciting the answers . With focusing on instructions students will practice complete the instructions with the correct verbs

Main Aims

  • To provide clarification and practice of common verbs in the context of phrasal verbs

Subsidiary Aims

  • To provide fluency and accuracy of pronunciation and speaking in the context of conversation

Procedure

Warmer/Lead-in (3-5 minutes) • To set lesson context and engage students ( to open up their minds and activate them) .

Teacher will act some actions and students will guess the verb.

Clarification (8-10 minutes) • To clarify meaning , form and pronunciation of the target language

teacher stick some pictures of actions on the board Ss elicit the meaning of the action in a phrase. Teacher write the form. Ss elicit the phrase. Teacher stick flashcards with the correct phrases Ss repeat the correct pronunciation of the phrases. - play football verb+ a noun

Controlled Practice (5-6 minutes) • To concept check and prepare students for more meaningful practice

students complete the verbs with a phrase according to the pictures in handouts. Ss check their answers in pairs Teacher give them the feed back.

Semi-Controlled Practice (5-6 minutes) • To concept check further and prepare students for free practice

In pairs one student ask about the number of the picture . The other student answer with the correct phrase.

Free Practice (5-6 minutes) • To provide students with free practice of the target language

Ss practice some instructions with phrasal verbs in groups they complete the instructions from the pictures
