Description

In this lesson, students will be using present simple tense as sentences and as questions. They will be working as pairs and as students asking each other about habbits and daily routines. They will also be pronouncing the -s in words, hearing the 2 types of -s sound.

Main Aims

  • To provide clarification and practice of present simple in the context of talking about habits and things that are generally/ always true.

Subsidiary Aims

  • To provide fluency speaking practice in a conversation in the context of their partners habits.

Procedure

Warmer/Lead-in (3-5 minutes) • To set lesson context and engage students

Pick up a newspaper and pretend to read it. Ask students: what am i doing? Reading newspaper. Write on WB: I always read the newspaper. I often go to the supermarket I never go to the gym Usually put these words before main verb or after verb to be. Tell your partner 3 things that you do/don't do..... Using words: always, usually, often, sometimes, never. FB

Exposure (8-10 minutes) • To provide context for the target language through a text or situation

Ask students: How often do you check your email? Example: I check my emails twice a day. Draw on WB chart: Twice a day i check my emails/i check my emails twice a day. Everyday Once a week Phrases can be at the beginning or end of the sentence. Ss make a sentence for 3 phrases Check with partner FB

Highlighting (2-4 minutes) • To draw students' attention to the target language

Exercise 1: In your groups rearrange the words to make questions.3mins Work in groups of three. Then answer the questions about yourself. Give example for question 1- I usually go shopping with my friends. 5- I go to work in the daytime. Peer check FB

Clarification and practice (8-10 minutes) • To clarify the meaning, form and pronunciation of the target language

Using the table, make these sentences true about yourself. For instance: I never get up late in the morning. I go for a walk once a day. Work in pairs. Peer check FB

Speaking (8-10 minutes) • for fluency in asking and answering questions

Change partners EX 4: Make questions from these sentences Example: How often do you get up late in the morning? Students ask and answer the questions and they will explain about there partner PW FB
