To provide scanned reading practice using a text about the towns in Montreal in the context of identifying words that are used to describe the town.

To provide fluency speaking practice in a Towns in Montreal in the context of which town you would prefer to live in.
Subsidiary Aims

To provide clarification of public transport, accommodation, nightlife and culture in the context of matching words that go in these lexical groups.
Procedure (33-43 minutes)
Map of the school on the WB Give Ss a copy 1 map per group Ss think of three things they see or know of in the town. FB on WB
WB pictures of public transport, types of accommodation, nightlife and culture. Get students to identify the words using concept question. Keep these pictures of the board.
Hand out activity 1: Put the words into their correct groups. Pw FB Can you add any other words to the list? Pw FB Question: Imagine you are going to live somewhere new. Which things are most important to you? Pw FB
Imagine you are going to move to Montreal, but don't know which town yet. Read through the three cities and pick which one you will like to live in. Compare answers with partner. FB
Hand out activity: Read text again. Which part of Montreal do the sentences refer to: Verdun, Outremont or Old Montreal.
