To give Ss practice in listening for specific information in the context of an interview about the Chinese New Year.
Subsidiary Aims

1. To allow Ss to practice speaking fluently in the context of celebrating the New year. 2. Provide the Ss with chinese words in the chinese New Year. 3. To have the Ss think of their answers and correct the false. 4.To help the Ss to write information about New Year's Eve celebration in their country. 5.To focus on pronounciation of some vocab.
Procedure (30 minutes)
Give the Ss pictures of flags of some countries. (to elicit the christmas in each country) . Ask the Ss to tell the name of each country. When does each country celebrate the New Year's Eve. Tell the Ss about my last New Year's Eve. Ask the Ss Which country do you expect the listening audio is about?
Present pictures about celebrating the New Year's Eve. Video (If there is time) . Introduce some key words : By writing word by word on the WB. Asking simple questions about each word.
Ask Ss to listen carefully to the listening audio Let them work in pairs to check their ideas. Ask the Ss to correct the false statement. Get FB information from Ss.
Drill the new vocab and focus on pronunciation and stress. dumpling /ˈdʌm.plɪŋ/ calendar [ ˈkæl.ɪn.dər ] resolution /ˌrez•əlˈuː•ʃən/
Ask the Ss to work together to rewrite the statements in ex 2 describing their own way of celebrating the New Year's Eve. Get FB.
Put the Ss in 2 groups. Make each group write 5 sentence about China. Each group choose one to read the sentences to share their ideas.
