Procedure (72-89 minutes)
A few pictures of the different modes of transport are displayed. Ss are asked to : Describe them Compare them What they prefer.
Ss are instructed to draw a mind map relating to the word travel. Ss are to work in groups and write down all the words related to travel. Ex Bus - ticket - conductor - road - traffic - driver.
Task 1: A wall walk in conducted. Ss are to read the statements displayed in the class and write if they are true or false. They work in pairs. The answers and statements are discussed and WCFB is done. Task 2 (pre -teach): A few pictures of refugees, economic migrants,etc are displayed. Ss discuss about the same. What people experience? How and why they go to another place? Task3: Ss are given a HO. They are to work in pairs and fill in the gaps. They check their answers with other pairs and answers are discussed in class.
Task 1: Ss are shown pictures based on the topic- Travel. They are to compare the pictures. Tr. questions Ss: What words did you use to compare these pictures? How did the words change? Task 2: Ss are given HO. They work alone. Through this HO Ss are introduces to the different rules of forming adverbs. For example: adding -er or -est. Task 3: HO are given and Ss fill in the gaps using adverbs. In this worksheet the compare adjectives and adverbs and practice when to use adverbs in a sentence. Task 4: Ss are given another HO wherein they fill in the gaps with adverbs of comparative and superlative degree. PC and WCFB is done after every task. Error correction is done after task4.
Ss are to talk about their travel experiences in pairs. Ss are to compare two travel experiences - pleasant and unpleasant in pairs. They are encouraged to use as many adverbs as they can. They are also encouraged to use new words that they had been introduced to earlier in the class. They share their experiences with the class. Error correction is done.
