Grammar during the clarification and Speaking in the freer practice stage.
Procedure (20-32 minutes)
This was done by the teacher in the previous lesson. It is about jobs and professions in general and which ones are liked or hated.
The exposure was a listening task, which was done already by the teacher in the previous lesson. It was a radio interview about a survey in the UK about the top ten most hated jobs.
- Pre -teach vocabulary which is used in the clarification HO1 /exercise : *vindictive *villains *obnoxius *thug - Exercise(HO 1+2) about the linking words of contrast : although, even though, despite, inspite of, which is the clarification part done by the students. - Showing the HO (1+2) first on chest. - Give instruction for the exercise : * Check the sentences and grammar forms on the HO and match them. * After this compare and discuss with your partner. * Pointing out the pairs. * CCQ your instructions - Monitoring during the exercise - Feedback :Writing the answerkey on the board. - Doing the Intonation exercise - First model practice intonation on the upper sentences. - If more exercise is needed use extra exercise on HO3 - in pairs
- Move to HO 4 / Put the phases in the correct order - Show HO 4 on chest and explain - Instructions: * Read the sentences and put them in the correct order. * After you finish compare your answers with your partner. If different explain each other. * CCQ the instructions * Then give the HO - Feedback : write the correct order/answer key on the board.
-2.nd Exercise : HO 5 a+b - Show HO on chest and give instructions : - Instructions: * Replace but with the gıven linker. Rewrite the sentence. * Work in pairs, do it together *CCQ the instructions - Monitoring - Feedback : Write the answerkey on the board
- Hanging 2 pictures on the board, related to the topic : Jobs - Instructions: - Ask the students what they think, - Do they look happy or unhappy - Ask them to discuss / speak in pairs about what are the advantages about doing a job you love and a job where you are unhappy. - Do you like your job? - Monitoring - Feedback : - Ask a few students what they have discussed
