To provide gist and specific information listening practice using a text about Brad Pitt's favourite things in the context of favourite things.
Procedure (26-40 minutes)
Focus the students' attention on the photo of Brad Pitt. Ask the students if they know who he is(a famous Hollywood actor). Find out if they've seen any films that he has been in.
Ask the students about the meaning of favourite things. Give some examples of my own: my favourite actor, my favourite film,etc.
Focus the students' attention on the list of Brad Pitt's favourite things, and the categories in the box. Explain that they have to complete the table with the headings from the box.
Go through the headings and make sure that the students understand and pronounce them correctly. Point out that the first one has been done for them as an example: Dianne Wiest is Brad Pitt's favourite actor.
Ask the students to complete the table Then play the recording for them to listen and check their answers. Play the recording again if it's needed. Divide the Ss into pairs to check their answers together. Check their answers and give them a feedback.
