Description
Main Aims
-
To provide product writing practice of a recommending a restaurant about its place, food, and price to a friend in the context of 'Hamdi' restaurant is close to metro station. It's big and cheap.
Subsidiary Aims
-
To practice the use of (a/an)+adjective+ singular noun in the context of an expensive restaurant through a reading text.
Procedure (22-38 minutes)
T shows some pictures of foods and restaurants to the SS on the slides.
T gives some pictures of the food (pizza, chicken, pasta, fish, rice) to the Ss and put the names of the foods on the WB. Ss look at the pictures and try to put the picture next to the food name on the WB. Ss do this in groups. Then T asks the Ss to read the guide in ex. 1.a on page 33 and the text on the right ( to practice skimming) for 1 minute on the right and try to match the text with the guide above and write the name of the restaurant at the beginning of each text.share the answers in pairs. T gives a filling the blank HO to the Ss . Ss scan the text in order to fill in the blanks in only 2 min. Then Ss listen to ex.1.b and complete the table individually and share the answers in pairs. T does the ICQ after each task and Peer check after finishing each task.
T gives a HO to Ss . Ss do the exercise in pairs. T writes the model example on the WB and goes for MPF (a/an+ adjective+ singular noun). Then T gives another HO to the Ss and asks them to the exercise in pairs. T does the peer check. T does the ICQ after each task and Peer check after finishing each task.
T draws a circle with the name of 'Hamdi, a famous restaurant in Istanbul' on the WB and writes some Questions on WB and asks the Ss discuss the questions in pairs after changing the partners. T does peer check. T writes some sentences about her favorite restaurant on WB and asks the Ss to write a 2-3 sentence report about their favorite restaurant as well. T does the ICQ after each task and Peer check after finishing each task.
T changes some of the Ss's writings together and asks them to read the paper. Other Ss can take a guess whose writing it is.
