Procedure (29-45 minutes)
I will project some picture about different kinds of music like classical, rock, rap and opera on the board and will ask students 1. what do they think about these pictures? what are they about? After this I will ask students to tell what kind of music do they like? why?
In this section I will project the same pictures in the lead in part once again and will give students handouts in which I have written different musical genres. I will ask students which type of music are they familiar with? and discuss it within their group. after this I will ask them to relate the genre to the projected picture. in this stage students may have pronunciation problems I will correct them.
I this section I will give students some words which have been used in the listening and their definition on a handout and will ask them to match the words to their definitions individually at first and then check their answers with partner. After this I will write the answer key on the board.
in this part I will put the following questions on the handout and will ask students to listen to a conversation between Scott and Julie then choose the correct answer. 1. They are talking about their favorite musical instrument. 2. They are talking about their favorite music, band and singer. 3. They are talking about rock music. after doing this task I will ask them to check their answer with their partner. Then I will write the corrects answer on the board.
I this stage. I will give students gap-fill handouts and ask them to listen to the conversation once again and write Scott or Julie for each sentence. I will ask students to do it individually and then check it with a partner. after this stage I will write answer key on the board.
In this stage I will give students handouts including three questions asking about detailed information about the conversation. Then I will play the conversation once again and ask students to answer those questions individually then discuss it in their group. Question are: 1. What is Scott's favorite music genre? 2. What is the best selling jazz record of all time? 3. Is Radiohead a classical music band?
In this part I will write following questions on the board and will ask students to discuss these questions with their partner. 1. what is your favorite music band? 2. have you ever been to a rock concert? 3. Who is your favorite singer?
