In this lesson,the students learn about the ways they can keep in touch with their friends all over the world .

Main Aims

To provide scan and detailed reading practice using a text about keeping in touch.

Subsidiary Aims

To give the Ss freer speaking practice through a discussion

Procedure

Lead-in • To introduce the context of the lesson .. 3 minutes

Ask the students to write down five of their friends names. Ask them when the last time they were in touch was. The students make Brainstorming about how they are communicated with each other.

Pre-Reading • To prepare students for the text and make it accessible .. 5 minutes

The Ss discuss the ways they can keep in touch with each other. Make them divided into two teams. Monitor them to check answers.

While-Reading • To provide students with less challenging gist and specific information reading tasks .. 12 minutes

The Ss read the passage silently. In teams , they discuss the statements (a-j) and decide which alternative is most likely to be true.

Post-reading • Check answers .. 5 minutes

Now,the Ss listen to a track and check their answers.

Activity • To check pronunciation .. 5 minutes

The Ss listen to a track about fractions. Using the white board, they will define the fractions through some draws. The Ss repeat the fractions and match them to the correct percentages.
