In this stage I will tell my students that we will play a role-play , it is about a local office has many problems then I will explain to them the situation , so they can follow me and have a clear idea about the role-play after they get it , I will divide my students into four groups of bosses , staff members , reporters 1 and reporters 2 then I'll give them out role-cards so they will read it and understand what is role-play about and what they have today in it .then I will give office rules cards to the bosses and staff members only .
In this stage I will give the students some time to read then I get them to discuss their roles then I will tell bosses and staff members that they should think about what they want to say to the reporters and how they will explain their problems . Moreover, reporters should add some of their own questions to find out what the problems are people feelings and I will get them to think of questions for the other person during this time I will monitor and help them when necessary .
In this stage I will re-group students into pairs one pairs one boss and one reporter 1 and the other pairs one staff member and one reporter 2 then I will tell them that the reporters will interview their person to find out what is going on. I will tell the reporter to make quick notes during the interview and I will give them 6 minutes. While they are speaking, I will focus on their use of TL from the previous lesson. If I hear some errors or good examples I will write them down. After that, I will tell the reporter to write a balanced story of both sides of the story. So I will regroup the students again in order swap interviewers and I will remind the reporters to choose a suitable question for the second interview and let them talk about what did the other bosses and the staff say in order to compare both stories. I will give them a demo example and monitor and take notes.
I will ask students if they felt there were a lot of problems at the company and if there are any solutions, so I will get a couple of ideas. After that, I will tell them to try to find solution for all these problems. I will listen to pieces of advice. Then, I will regroup the students into 4 people groups: 1 boss, 1 staff member, 1 reporter 1 and 1 reporter 2 in order to discuss and try to find solutions to the problems. They can also rewrite the office rules and they can name a secretary to do the writing. They should do this on a separate piece of paper. I will monitor and take notes during the process . Then , I will do some FB and write on the W/B if there are good or bad examples and I will let my students to correct their won errors and share their opinion .
