Description
In this lesson students learn about grammar (present simple affirmative and negative). Listening and speaking. Students will be introduced into the concept through family structures eg. Father, mother, brother, sister etc.
They will also listen to to sentences, and pronounce them. They will be shown pictures and associate the pictures with the family structure. They will write the words missing in sentences. Lastly they will work in pairs and then write two sentences about themselves.

Procedure (46-60 minutes)
Warmer/Lead-in (3-5 minutes) • To set lesson context and engage students
T holds up pictures for the class of family members. T attempts to get the students to identify the correct family members according to the pictures.
T attempts to get the students to pronounce the family members names.
Exposure (3-5 minutes) • To provide context for the target language through a text.
T will provide Sts with a handout (HO) containing a list of different sentences.
Highlighting (8-10 minutes) • To draw students' attention by listening to the audio part.
T Plays 1.17 audio and have the Sts repeat the sentences.
Clarification (8-10 minutes) • To clarify the meaning, form and pronunciation of the target language
T has the students match the sentences with the pictures in the handout.
Clarification (8-10 minutes) • To concept check and prepare students for more meaningful practice
T. plays the audio partt 1.18.
T. will have the students repeat the sentences.
Clarification (8-10 minutes) • To concept check further and prepare students for free practice
T. will play 1.19 audio part. Sts will listen and then repeat.
Sts. will then write down the missing words in the HO.
Pair the students off into pairs. Sts A Choose as photo and say a sentence. Student B will choose will photo it is.
Free Practice (8-10 minutes) • To provide students with free practice of the target language
Students write down two sentences about themselves.
