Description

In today ‘s lesson, students will learn the meaning of “fast food” restaurants, and some related vocabulary, such as factory, recipe, secret, service station and manager.

Main Aims

  • To give students practice reading for skimming, scanning, and reading for detail in the context of a biography about the founder of KFC

Subsidiary Aims

  • to expose sts to past simple regular/irregular/positive/negative

Procedure

Warmer/Lead-in (3-5 minutes) • To review what fast food restaurants are.

- I will start by introducing myself and what my favorite fast food restaurant is - Ask them if they know what a fast food restaurant is what is it type of fast food do they like it. etc. -read the article by themselves -what they understand from the article

Pre teach vocabulary (3-5 minutes) • Teach them necessary words they do not know to answer the questions of the reading

i will provide a short story with all of the words i chose from the article. while i tell the story, i will stop at each word that i want to define and ask them if they know the meaning of it, then i will provide the definition of each word i chose for the class. After defining each word, I will have them learn the pronunciation of each word. At the end, i will write them on the board and have them repeat it.

While-Reading/Listening #1 (10-12 minutes) • To provide students with less challenging gist and specific information reading/listening tasks

I will give them some time to read the article quickly and answer section 2a as a whole class (michael) I will ask them to check do the exercise as a group after finished I will ask one person from each group to come up and write one answer and try to get all of them in order.

While-Reading/Listening #2 (14-16 minutes) • practice reading

the students will read the article alone. after reading, they will answer the questions. then pair up with a partner to check answers WC feedback ask any necessary questions if needed

Post-Reading/Listening (8-10 minutes) • To provide with an opportunity to respond to the text and expand on what they've learned

ask students if they have any questions about any vocabulary they didn't understand
