Procedure (47-60 minutes)
The lesson starts with greeting students and grouping them. Students shake hands with everyone and when the teacher says 'Stop!', it means that they find their partners. The teacher delivers handouts for Ss to have a discussion. In pairs, they talk about the sentences on the HO. They compare their answers and give some extra information for the sentences.
Ss are given a worksheet. To test their prior knowledge about the sports, Ss work individually to match the items in the pictures with the related sports. This activity has been adapted because writing down the names of sports may challenge Ss a lot. For FB, students check their answers by working in pairs. Then the teacher gets the answers from the students, writes the problematic words on the board to study form and pronunciation.
To clarify the names of sports, students do a puzzle which includes the definitions of the supports. As it is a challenging activity, Ss work in groups of 3 or 4. For feedback, the answer key is delivered. Then, for more clarification Ss are shown the pictures of sports The teacher asks CCQs by using the items in stage Test#1. The teacher checks if the Ss understand not only sports but also the things related with those sports. During this stage, they practise MFP.
In this stage, the teacher checks the students' use of the target language. First, Ss fill in the blanks in language note they see on WB. It is about the rules of the verbs going with sports. Students work in pairs to discuss and find the correct verb for each blank. Then Ss complete a table with the names of sports, eg. play..? go..? do..? Some Ss complete the table on the WB for feedback.
Ss work in pairs. They choose a sport and write some clues for it. They are given a worksheet to use the words in the box to help them. Before they start, they are shown an example on the board, they guess which sport it is.
