Main Aims

I will ask the students to read for gist and for some details as well,scanning.This kind of practice is going to prepare them for standard tests such as IELTS or TOEFL.First off alI,I will ask them to skim the text to get the general idea,then I will ask them to underline the key words or phrases to make sure what they are looking for

Subsidiary Aims

They are going to utilize their knowledge to speak,mostly inspired from the text. This is integrated task of reading and speaking which will augment their ability in TOEFL IBT.

Procedure (42-56 minutes)

Warmer/Lead-in (3-5 minutes) • To make the students think about senility and guess the topic

After introducing myself and checking the student's name with them I will raise some questions

Exposure (5-8 minutes) • To provide context for the target language through a text or situation

Then I will put the topic and the picture on the WB.Meanwhile I will I will put them in two groups:A & B Then I give them the questions in Ex.1

Highlighting (2-3 minutes) • To draw students' attention to the target language

Getting their ideas and answers and putting them on the WB.

Clarification (8-10 minutes) • To clarify the meaning, form and pronunciation of the target language

I ask them to read the text to find out which answers are right. Then ask them to check in pairs.Then they check their answers with me. Practicing the pronunciation of some words as well as clarifying their meaning

Controlled Practice (8-10 minutes) • To concept check and prepare students for more meaningful practice

I will ask them to put the text face down and see how much they are going to remember. I will also give them some HOs and ask them in order;then read the text again and check their answers with the text

Semi-Controlled Practice (8-10 minutes) • To make sure they grabbed everything and didn't miss a point

I will give EX.4 on page 128 to group A and EX4 on page 131 to group B.I'll ask them to ask each other and answer them.

Free Practice (8-10 minutes) • To provide students with free practice of the target language

One student from group A goes to group B and vice versa. They each will ask their own groups' questions from the other group.
