Procedure (43-51 minutes)
show the Ss a picture or more for supermarkets and ask them to say names of the supermarkets they buy from, when was the last time they went to buy foods and what did they buy.Check the difficult vocabularies from the list like socks and tissues.
will start with Ex.3. lead the students into the listening stage by asking them which shops they use most frequently and why. will read through the questions as a class, then play conversation 1 as an example and check the answers.then play the rest of the conversations and pause after each one.then ask students to check their answers in pairs before checking with the whole class.
will let them know that they will learn how to speak about the quantity. will check with them if they understand the meaning of the words in in Ex.1. column A, show them some pictures about the words so they can match the meaning of the word. then let them match the words individually then work in pairs to check if they are correct before we check with the whole class.
Put the students in groups and let them speak about the prices in turkey. I may first ask them questions like how much is a liter of petrol in turkey?, how much is a loaf of bread?
will move to Ex.4. ask the students to read the questions first, then play the recording put them in pairs and let them answer the questions. we check the answers as a whole class
we will do some role play, will put them in pairs and ask them to read the conversations for two or three minutes then ask volunteer pairs to play the conversation in front of the class. Extra activities if we had time: will write these two questions on the WB and let students answer them -What are the shops like near where you live? what can you buy there? -what shops/places do you never use?why?
