Description

In this lesson students will learn to describe their friends by picking out their friend's characteristics and preferences they will also learn vocabulary related to describing friends.

Main Aims

  • The aim of htis lesson is for the students to learn how to describe their friends using the correct vocabulary.

Subsidiary Aims

  • For students to learn new vocabulary.

Procedure

Short video on friendship (5-5 minutes) • To ease students into the topic centered on describing a friend.

The teacher plays the short video

Useful Language (8-10 minutes) • To help students with the right vocabulary when describing friends

The teacher first inquires from students if they have friends and then ask them to talk about those friends. The teacher then with the help of a ppt models the response for the students using He is / She is, He/She like, He is ….years old, His family …..

Describing your friend (18-20 minutes) • To provide students with practice of what they have just learnt.

The student describe their friends on small pieces of paper using the vocabulary they have learnt and also saying why they like these friends. Students then exchange the small pieces of paper which they then read out and the rest of the students try to guess the name of the friend being described. As this goes on the teacher corrects any errors or mistakes in language usage.

Internalising (8-8 minutes) • Describing each other

The last part of the lesson will involve the teacher randomly picking out 2 students and asking them to describe each other using vocabulary learnt- He/She is, He likes etc
