Description

In this lesson students will learn about the usage of ' or something' and 'or anything' in lists, they will also learn to use or at the end of yes/no questions. It starts with a conversation which is followed up by some exercises. After that, there are some controlled and freer practice, then, there is the listening and strategy part which is followed by freer practice,too.

Procedure

Warmer/Lead-in (3-5 minutes) • To set lesson context and engage students

discuss this question " What kinds of food are popular for lunch? "

Exposure (6-8 minutes) • To provide context for the target language through a text or situation

Draw the students' attention to pictures, then, the teacher will write this question on the board" What do Carrie and Henry decide to do for lunch?". Students listen to the conversation to get the answer. The books are closed.

Highlighting (3-5 minutes) • To draw students' attention to the target language

The teacher will ask the students to listen to the conversation for the second time, and read it too. They are asked to find words or phrases that let them avoid using long lists. Then, they are supposed to check it in their pair.

Clarification (8-10 minutes) • To clarify the meaning, form and pronunciation of the target language

Teacher will check the answers and elaborate them. This part can be merged by part 2 which is about another strategy that is so useful in speaking.

Controlled Practice (8-10 minutes) • To concept check and prepare students for more meaningful practice

Next, students are supposed to do parts 'D' and the exercises in part '2'. They check the answers in pair and then with class and the teacher will correct them.

Semi-Controlled Practice (8-10 minutes) • To concept check further and prepare students for free practice

They will discuss the questions which were answered by them.But this time, they will talk about themselves.

Free Practice (8-10 minutes) • To provide students with free practice of the target language

They are asked to write about their daily diet and then discuss it in their groups, trying to choose the student with the healthiest diet.
