Procedure (32-45 minutes)
show some pictures about different hobbies and interests stick them in different corners of the classroom and ask students to stand up next to each hobby or interest they prefer. after each student will discuss why he/she chose a picture with someone who chose the same.
write three ideas on the WB 1. Food and restaurants 2. Postcards and posters 3. TV programs ask Ss to to work individually,listen carefully and circle the main idea . Play the audio and when they finish we will have WCF Ss listen to the audio again and work on a reading for specific formation task . Ss check answer in groups Provide Ss with answer key
Write marker sentences from the listening activity on the WB She prefers buying postcards. she prefers Malevich to Monet. Ask CCQs: does she like postcards? . is she talking about postcards only or other thing? How about the second sentence? Is she talking about one thing or two things? Which one does she like more? Which one doesn't she like? so she is talking about her preferences . What did she use to express here preferences? What is the difference between the firs sentence and the second one? first prefer+v+ing +o second prefer+ noun+to+noun elicit the form from Ss clarify prnunciation through drilling and back chaining
Provide Ss with the Ho students have to work individually to rewrite the sentences using prefer after they finish they compare their answer with their partners and some Ss will be invited to write the answers on the WB. drill and error correction
Provide Ss with the free practive HO Ss are required to use the information given and to form a question ans ask their partners . Students have to note their partners' preferences and compare them to their preferences . After they finish each Ss will talk about his/her partner preferences in a whole class discussion
each Ss will have a list of hobbies and interest in a chart and he/she has to walk around the class and ask questions about their preferences . They have to write the name of the person they talked to . after they finish each student will talk about a person he talked to
