Main Aims

Procedure

Warmer/Lead-in (2-3 minutes) • To set lesson context and engage students

T shows a picture of an editorial team and asks: 1) who are these people? 2) Think solo . Check in pairs

Exposure (4-5 minutes) • To provide a model to prepare for the task

T shows picture and shows these questions who are they? Are they working? Are they working as a team yes? are they exchanging ideas? Are they giving opinions? can they speak at the same time? Do they have a team leader? Do they have time without limit? Ss to work in pairs ; teachers ask a volunteer to play the teacher

Useful Language (3-5 minutes) • To highlight and clarify useful language for coming productive tasks

T shows a newspaper and asks pointing at an article : what is this called? SS answers , teacher clarifies if necessary. T points to a headline and asks : What is this ? ss answer; T : passes hand on newspapers and asks what page is this? ss answers and T clarifies when necessary.

Productive Task(s) (10-12 minutes) • To provide an opportunity to practice target productive skills

T divides class in 4 groups with the ABCD; T instructs: As together; Bs together and so on ... T instructs: Your task is to be an editorial team {you choose the stories that go in the front page of your newspaper] T: I am going to give you a list of 5 stories to choose a main and a secondary story from; T gives the lists; T: what are supposed to do? T: You need to choose the stories that make people buy your paper and say why ? ask a st to repeat instruction T : You also need to choose a photograph T: Choose a headline for each story T asks again : how many stories you need to choose? answer should be 2 Which stories have to be on the FP of the paper? [ selling stories] Do you have to say why you chose them ? [yes] Do you have to chose a headline? [yes] After instructions, T provides a written sample and paper ss can use for their selection ; Ss work in groups ; T monitors and takes down any error for delayed correction during class feedback T: changes groups in a mix of A and B and C with D . T instructs: discuss which stories you have chosen in your groups? SS work in groups T: gives two minutes then T: choose one main one secondary to go on the front page and stick them on the wall

Feedback and Error Correction (8-10 minutes) • To provide feedback on students' production and use of language

T choses one delegate from each group T: tell us about your choice ; T correct some errors after eliciting on WB
