Procedure

Warmer/Lead-in (3-5 minutes) • To set lesson context and engage students

the teacher boards the sentence: what are the differences between schools in Iran and the schools in other countries , you can talk about :different places school, different fields of study, different languages that students learn. students talk in small groups and while the teacher monitors the Ss she is also helping them with some new words that the students are going to learn latter, like biology, literature,choir,...

Exposure (8-10 minutes) • To provide a model of production expected in coming tasks through reading/listening

ask the students to listen to the audio to check if they guessed correctly or not. they listen for second time and take notes and share their notes with their partners(books are closed). for the last time they listen and check the reading in their books. then the teacher writes the CORRECT form sentences in exercise B on the board and asks Ss' ideas about them ! then she draws Ss' attention to the key grammatical parts( in this case Determiners). then Ss' open their books and check part 2 of their books.(whole class check is followed by CCQs & ICQs)

controlled practice (8-10 minutes) • To highlight and clarify useful language for coming productive tasks

students make true sentences about their school using their new grammar they check in pairs .the teacher monitors them.then they have a whole class discussion. on board:what are your favorite subjects at school and why? Ss share their ideas in small groups.they listen to the audio then they open their books and read part 3A, they look up for the meaning of new words in their dictionaries (the teacher monitors and after that they have REP ,CCQs and ICQs). then the teacher writes the categories in exercise B on the board and asks the students to add the subjects to each category ( after that they have a whole class check).

Free Practice (7-10 minutes) • To provide an opportunity to practice target productive skills

what was your best subject at school ? did you like it ? ...(on board) Ss talk in small groups then they change their partners and make new groups.
